Thank you everyone who purchased a tshirt to support my trip to Nicaragua this year! With the money raised, Carlos and I were able to give to several people and I wanted to share about how your finances helped!
First, part of the money went towards Christmas baskets for elderly people. The church that has loved Carlos and me so well, named Iglesia Elevate, has a ministry called Ancianos Coronados, in which they visit an elderly home twice a week, encourage them spiritually, pray over them, and support them financially. This year, they gave each member of the home a Canasta Navideña (Christmas Basket), and we were able to give towards those baskets. Carlos and I loved being able to support the church and the work they do in Nicaragua.
Part of your funds also went towards Christmas presents for a family that I met when I first came to Nicaragua. If you remember, there is a boy named Alex who I fell in love with immediately. Both of his parents work at a feeding center in the city dump. Carlos and I visited their home, shared some Pepsi with them, talked, and gave them presents filled with basic necessities and some goodies. We love this family to pieces and have been encouraged by their servant hearts and love for God.
Lastly, Carlos and I were able to join forces with a couple of friends and take 10 young men from a drug and alcohol rehab center to the beach and enjoy a meal with them. The rehab center is a Christian facility that provides a 4 month program based on the word of God for young men with addictions. The center is free for the men to attend and runs on donations. They are working on becoming self sustainable by making and selling pottery. The men had fun at the beach, swimming and relaxing. It was the first time at the beach for one of them and it was nice to see them be able to be carefree and enjoy God’s creation. We also put together bags of hygiene items for each boy at the rehab center. To say that this activity was a blessing for both us and them is an understatement.
Your financial support is always a blessing to Carlos and me, and you are helping to bless peoples lives in Nicaragua. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us in what God has planted in our hearts.
